A Long Day and then the Rains came

Yesterday was a long day which ended in rains. The team divided up to accomplish it's many tasks and opportunities. The ladies of the team (Amber, Linda, and Beverly) went with Lisa to the dump in Le Ceiba and were able to minister there to the many needs, including handing out food and milk to the children. This is the ministry that the children of this year's VBS raised money for. Richard Evans went with Anael and Rigo to Le Ceiba also, but this was to buy supplies for an additional project at the church. Mark, Rick Shields and Phil worked on the tile at the church, while Dr Richard preformed 3 surgeries. The evening included the rains arriving and a trip out to eat in Belfate.

Monday starts the work week

Today saw construction start in earnest at the church with tile actually getting laid and the floor continuing to be prepared for further tiling. Richard, Richard Phil and Mark worked along side our local co-workers. The work included mixing mortar, laying it on the floor under the tile, measuring and putting strings down, chipping high spots, and Richard Evans’ favorite thing of destroying stuff. Dr Rich saw about 20 patients in clinic this morning and then arranged 5 surgeries for the next 2 days. Amber jumped right in at the hospital and resumed the role she has been able to play at the hospital over the past 7 trips. The food is of course still amazing; the team at the church were well supplied for lunch by our local friends!! Linda and Beverly continue to prepare the most wonderful meals for the team and missionary friends. 

Church Service at Margarita

What a complete joy it was for the team to join worship today at the church in Margarita. The teams from JPC have seen this church grow from meeting in a local school through the building of the church building itself, so today where it is growing spiritually and physically and going from strength to strength. This year the new ceramic floor will be laid during our time here. So today we enjoyed worship outside. The leading light of the church of course is Anael who we have seen grow in leaps and bounds from a teenager who helped int he construction of the church, to a young man on fire for God, evangelizing the countryside and mountains.
It was also a joy to see Norma who was until earlier this year a missionary based at Loma De Luz and helped found the church at Margarita. She is now in Guatemala, but was here for a short visa trip. Returning members reconnected with those they had known before and new members met for the first time people who have been a part of our church's life for a number of years.
Both Beverly and Dr Rich helped out in Sunday School classes for the children, while the rest of the team received teaching on Angels. There was translation this time and so those of us with little or no Spanish were able to join in more fully during the message, while the songs were familiar in tune but the words were a little different.
Plans were made at the end of the service for the week ahead and the flooring project.

Day 3 (Day one at Loma De Luz)

Saturday got off to a great start having been fed well on Friday night the team slept well and awoke for breakfast and devotions with renewed strength. Which as it happens is the theme for the devotions this year. God's Strength, How He strengthens us and how we strengthen others. Donations were unpacked and taken to their various points of need. Some of the team visited the church where work has already begin on preapring the floor for the ceremaic tile to be laid this coming week. Friendships have already been renewed for some and begun for others. We are all looking forward to God moving in His time and His way.

Travel Days

Arrived safe and sound.. After being slightly delayed out of Medford the team traveled from Thursday afternoon to arrival on Friday evening. Time in San Francisco and Houston airports was spent continuing to bond as a team.
